On the 19^th of June 2010 at 12:00 PM WILpower Lebanon organised one of its "Substantive Legal Lecture Events" at Tripoli in El-Derbass Law Office.

We took this occasion to tackle the very important topic of "Women’s Participation in the Public Sphere" with Dr. Samira Baghdadi whose mandate in Tripoli's municipality has been recently renewed.

This event was very interactive and attractive; a lot of critical topics were discussed by the participants and Dr. Samira Baghdadi. Everyone was very delighted.

The speaker event was followed by a lunch where all the participants, WILpower team and the Keynote speaker gathered.

The first Wilpower speaker Event of the year 2010 took place on the 17^th of April in Le Comodore Hotel in Beirut on the "Women migrant workers" issue in Lebanon.

This Speaker Event was attended by nearly 40 participants from the bar of Beirut.

Professor Kathleen Hamill who works in humanitarian law and has already done a lot of research on this issue was the speaker; she interacted with the participants, showed some videos, talked about the statistics and distributed some manuals and practical cases,

The main aim of the speaker Event was to raise awareness and to help participants to empathize with the experience of a migrant worker. This speaker event also represented a unique and important opportunity for lawyers and civil society to discuss, be aware, and contribute to the process of developing a legislation that protects women migrant workers.
