Gulf Legal Communities
The Women in Law Program (WILpower) is working to support the implementation of professional development activities for young female legal practitioners and law students across the Gulf region. WILpower is seeking to expand its network by reaching out to young female legal practitioners and law students in five Gulf countries including Bahrain, Kuwait, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
Partnering with a core team of talented female legal professionals and law students in all five target countries, WILpower seeks to engage in peer mentorship as well as local and regional legal training activities. These activities will include: a national level legal debate in each participating Gulf country; a national level moot court competition and legal training event; and a regional moot court competition and leadership training event.
In addition, other online legal skill-building, social networking, and professional resource support activities will be offered. Through these activities and the growth of the WILpower network across the Gulf, participants will gain practical skills in the fields of law and leadership. WILpower participants will continue their personal and professional growth by looking at ways in which to empower other young women in the legal sector and assist those working in legal reform and community development in the Gulf communities.
WILpower has conducted two local workshops in Kuwait City. The following are some photos of past local activities:
